The documentary shows a high school student, as she looks into the history and cultural importance of the Arvanitika dialect in her mother's Greek village, Limnes Argos. The dialect is a form of the Tosk Albanian language spoken in Greece by the Arvanites, a community that played a crucial role in Greek history, especially during the Greek War of Independence, and it survives today mainly through oral tradition. We discover the present situation of Arvanitika, seeing how the number of speakers is dropping and the difficulties young people face in learning and keeping it alive. Interviews with villagers, a teacher, and the local priest allow viewers to see how the language passes down, what social and cultural issues affect its decline, and the efforts to keep it thriving. Using oral stories, songs, and personal experiences, the filmmaker tells a powerful story that highlights the beauty and importance of this fading dialect as a rich part of Greek culture and tradition.
