Today's Navajo Word of the Day is "aheeskidígíí," or "pictures." Trying to incorporate words from previous lessons, I also used the word "computer." My choice of words of the day try to show that the Navajo language is fluid & uses "today's" words. Today's sentence for the word of the day is "Aheeskidígíí ła' shibéésh nitsikeesí bikáa'ji' díníił'iił," which means, "let's look at pictures on my computer." The breakdown: Aheeskidígíí: pictures someone took Ła': some Shibéésh nitsikeesí: my computer Bikáa'ji': on it Díníił'iił: let's look at it With Navajo, some words change based on who is doing the action. This word is the same. The noun "aheeskidígíí" refers to pictures someone else took. If you're saying, "Pictures I took," you say, "ahééłkidígíí." To say, "Pictures YOU took," you say, "ahíníłkidígíí." For details, you can send me messages or strike up a conversation with a fluent Navajo speaker.
