Naman is spoken only by a handful of adults and elderly community members.
The language is rarely used. The only situations where Naman can be used are when the few remaining older speakers converse to each other. There are essentially no Naman speaking households. One speaker has insisted on speaking only Naman to his two sons, but they respond in Neve'ei.
Neve'ei and Northeast Malakula
Malakula. Spoken today in a few coastal villages around Litzlitz.
Naman was traditionaly spoken over a substantial area of what is often referred to as the Dog's Neck in central Malakula, from the mouth of the Aup river to Bushmans bay. The traditional area of language use also extended quite far inland.
