An introductory video about Sora language. Sora, also known as Savara, is spoken by the Savara people in the tea gardens of Sylhet and Moulvibazar, Bangladesh. While the language has its own unique script, Sorang Sompeng, most speakers in Bangladesh use the Bengali script for writing. Sora boasts a rich oral tradition, filled with folk songs, stories, and rituals, forming an integral part of the community’s cultural identity.
Sadly, the language is endangered, with fewer people fluent in it due to the community's small size. While efforts to preserve Sora within Bangladesh remain minimal, initiatives outside the country have raised awareness.
