Xumi (旭米語, /ʃʉ-hĩ ketɕɐ/) means 'the language of the Shu people'. It is also known as Shixing 史興語 (Chirkova 2015, p. c.).

WEITERE KOMMENTARE		In the Muli County where this group lives, the Shixing-speaking people are known as Xùmǐ 旭米 (currently their official denomination in Chinese) or Sùmǔ 粟母, both of which are Chinese renderings of the group’s name in Prinmi (Púmǐ), Prinmi being the language of Mùlǐ’s ethnic majority (Chirkova 2009).
