"Currently, the Yawalapíti language has only three full speakers [...]. The last women who speak the Yawalapíti language are Ñapirú, Arupy (Village Paluxaio), Sanain (Village Batuvi) and Ulé (Village Aturua), there are also two women who remember the Yawalapíti [...] and two men [...]. In addition to these people, three young women [...] have incipient knowledge of the language, and two men [...] are learning the language Yawalapíti with the elders. Only two children, one four years old and the other eight years old, are learning the Yawalapíti language.""[Atualmente, a língua Yawalapíti conta com apenas três falantes plenos, Waripirá (Aldeia Caramujo), Makawana e Makuku (Aldeia Yawalapíti). As últimas mulheres falantes da língua Yawalapíti são Ñapirú, Arupy (Aldeia Paluxaio), Sanain (Aldeia Batuvi) e Ulé (Aldeia Aturua), e há ainda duas mulheres lembradoras do Yawalapíti [...] e dois homens [...]. "With the Mehinako and Waurá languages, the Yawalapíti language forms a small group of Aruák languages in the Upper Xingu region. The sister languages closest to this small group are the languages spoken by the Enawenê-Nawê and Pareci peoples, located to the northwest of the Xingu Indigenous Park, and by the Teréna and Kinikináw, located to the southwest of this indigenous park."
