I am Kanien’keha:ka on my mother’s side and Highland Scottish on my father’s side. I grew up near Onawi:io and I have been in the process of re-learning my language and culture over the last several decades. I got my Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in the department of Language, Reading and Culture with a focus on Indigenous language revitalization, Indigenous education, and decolonizing methodologies.
