Examples of using follow up yes/no questions with three Nuxalk questions -
stamks t'ayc? - what is this?
alh7alatsicw-aqw's-iks t'ayc - what colour is he/she.
alh7alatsicwliwa-ks t'ayc - how is he/she.
All of these are taught with follow up questions, and for these questions we use straight forward yes/no questions.
Practicing this takes us closer to being able to do a classroom without reverting to English when things aren't understood. Using this method, even questions should be teachable without translation.
