About Me
I am Pius Akumbu, a native speaker of Babanki in North-West Cameroon. I received my PhD in Linguistics from the University of Yaoundé 1, Cameroon in 2007, and since then I have taught or been a visiting scholar in Germany, Japan, and the United States. Since January 2022, I am working as a researcher on African languages and cultures at LLACAN (CNRS-INALCO-EPHE), Paris. My main research interests include language documentation and description, revitalization, and languages in education policy in Africa.
I am especially interested in dictionary/database creation, orthography development, curriculum development, education for Indigenous languages revitalization, and Indigenous languages in Africa. I am also happy to talk with you about any other topic in language revitalization!
