Language Nest Toolkit (FPCC)

The Language Nest Online Toolkit (created by the First Peoples’ Cultural Council, British Columbia, Canada), is a free, downloadable PDF that gathers together resources that are useful for language nest immersion programs in First Nations communities in Canada, with a particular emphasis on British Columbia. It is also a useful resource for Indigenous communities globally who might find new ideas, helpful suggestions, and relevant resources to design their own language nest programs.

The Language Nest Online Toolkit is a very useful guide to help readers learn about what is involved in how to run a language nest. It is full of practical information and resources, including links to Indigenous language immersion programs globally.

Topics in this toolkit include: teaching tools; teaching approaches and methods; resources for administrators; program planning; language assessment; language acquisition; immersion and early childhood language programs worldwide; resources for parents; published resources; and Canada-specific funding sources.
