In 1932 a Latin based writing system for Itelmen was developed. A primer book was published in 1932, and then an arithmetic book in 1933, but afterwards all publications in this script ceased.
A Cyrillic alphabet for Itelmen was created in 1986 by A. Volodin, but there is no evidence that it was ever used in publications.
