"The Sichela speakers seem to have a positive attitude towards their own language variety. They are speaking it to their children and most of them believe outsiders should learn it if they move into the Sichela area. They reported that they would even use it in a mixed ethnic environment such as in a town.... Sichela was reported to be the language of work and home. Swahili is the language of instruction in primary schools in Tanzania. Swahili is the main language used in churches. However, Sichela is used alongside Swahili in order to ensure that all people understand."
