This text is from Mr. Shyer Bahadur Gurung, who is a long-time Dharapani village, Manang. His native language is Gurung (Tamu). He was born in Otargaun. Mr. Gurung provided a historical monologue about the hardships that he (and other local residents) faced in lower Manang before the road construction project began. This text also provides a bit of information about what the trails were like before the roadwork began, and how politics has figured in with this project. This text was recorded on July 19, 2012 in Dharapani village (in a lodge room). The video quality is poor because of the lack of electric light and the low natural lighting, but the sound quality is good. This was recorded with a Canon FS-100 camcorder (non-high-def) and an Audio-Technia AT 8022 omnidirectional microphone.
