Irianese Malay
Indonesian
The children are bilingual in Indonesian and tend to prefer it to Sobei. Intermarriage with members of other language groups is increasing, and Irianese Malay (Pasar Malay) is used with people from other language areas. Sobei speakers are beginning to shift to it.
Spoken on the central north coast of Irian Jaya, at Ahus and at Sarmi, and in various dialectal forms on islands to the north of Sobei and Sarmi.
