In 1981, fifty-eight speakers were reported. There are still around fifty or so.
The language is under pressure from large neighhbouring languages, especially Garus, its eastern neighbour. Tok Pisin also takes its toll.
No literacy
Madang Province. Spoken about 30km inland from the east coast north of Alexishafen, straight west from Garu and Yoidik settlements.
