"The Ngarrindjeri language was last spoken by a few Elders in full sentences in the mid 1960s. Then in 1964 and 1965, several groups of Ngarrindjeri people went to Batchelor in the NT to relearn their language with the linguist Steve Johnson at the School of Australian Linguistics.. Then in the mid 1990s some schools started teaching Ngarrindjeri, but still it was putting words into English sentences. In 2004 - 2005 a Draft school language curriculum was compiled comprising Ngarrindjeri words, with minimal grammar. Ngarrindjeri is now being taught at Murray Bridge High School, Murray Bridge North JP, Raukkan Aboriginal school & Winkie Primary School in the Riverland."
