About Me

Mr. Nicholas Barla is from the ‘Oraon’ or ‘Kurukh’ Indigenous Tribe of Odisha, India. For the last 30 years he has been engaged in the protection and promotion of Indigenous Socio-Culture and land, forest and territory rights. He was an advisory member in the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. As a steering committee member for the International Year of Indigenous Languages 2019 at UNESCO, he was involved in developing plans for the promotion and revitalization of Indigenous languages and cultures with UNESCO member states and NGOs. He works for the betterment of Mother Earth and all the living beings on it.
