The Resguardos Kofan Santa Rosa del Guamuez, Yarinal-San Marcelino and Campoalegre del Afilador led the development of a documentary in partnership with the Natural National Parks of Colombia, the Colombia National Commission for UNESCO and the UNESCO Local and Indigenous Knowledge Systems (LINKS) programme.

The project sought to support the adoption and implementation of key results and recommendations on Indigenous and local knowledge from Colombia’s National Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Assessment, as well as to address the findings and gaps identified by the IPBES Assessment on the Sustainable Use of Wild Species – particularly the need to document Indigenous and local knowledge related to the sustainable use of wild species. It aimed to raise awareness of the value and contributions of Indigenous governance and its inclusion into formal biodiversity governance systems. Through visual storytelling and the production of a documentary film, the initiative strengthened the traditional knowledge and conservation practices associated with the Yagé culture, highlighting the worldview and cosmogony of the Cofán people from the Yarinal–San Marcelino, Santa Rosa del Guamuez, and Campoalegre del Afilador Resguardos, who, together with the Flora Plantas Medicinales Orito Ingi Ande Sanctuary, contribute to the preservation of both biological and cultural diversity.
