“I was like an eagle that wanted to fly, but I was weak and broken. I wonder what happens to a person’s voice when their language disappears.”

In this moving story, Sudanese linguist Esraa Alrasheed reflects on the inner voice that has guided her during displacement and war, and the voices and languages her family has been separated from.

This video was created during the "We Are Our Languages" digital storytelling workshop in late 2024, organized by the Endangered Languages Project and facilitated by StoryCenter.
