This song is from the greatest singer of all time in Greece who is of Pontic origin and the song says about how Pontus was lost to Turks in 1920's and the massive fled of people from that region and the atrocities of the new Turkish government under Kemal who at that time was coming into popularity and had support from the communist regime in USSR under Lenin who provided weapons to Turks to fight people who were mostly agricultural.The international community then was just passive while there have been reports from prestigious correspondents of that time that atrocities on a large scale had being carried out.
