This dissertation examines two phonological properties of Mwotlap (also known as Motlav), a minority language of Mota Lava, Vanuatu. Phonetic analysis software (Praat) is used to analyse native speaker data, with a goal of describing the underlying properties of two phenomena: triple-articulated consonants and [ATR]-alternating vowels, both rare within the Oceanic language family as a whole. Possible origins for these phenomena are also discussed.
