lā-qtille form used to express a past event that has relevance in the present; to express present state resulting from prior action; and to express a state that constitutes the circumstantial background of another clause. The deictic center can be the historic present and the past time reference of adjacent past tense verbs. The lā-qtille form can also be used at the beginning of a past narrative sequence.
