In contrast, the Turkish dialect spoken by the Hopa Hemshinli is not very different from that of their Laz neighbours. There are certain other aspects that differentiate the two groups, such as the fact that the Hopa Hemshinli call themselves Homshentsi or Homshetsi, while the Rize Hemshinli do not use this Arme- nian form and call their region Bash Hemshin to distinguish it from the Hopa Hemshin region.
