For the first time in history, an NHL game has been broadcasted in the Ojibwe-language to kick off the celebration of Native American Heritage Day on November 28th, 2025. This monumental moment is a huge victory for not only Ojibwemowin activists, but for all Indigenous language activists as a demonstration and normalization of Indigenous languages in modern society. Hopefully the first of many to come, and paving the way for reimagining what spaces Indigenous languages can not only occupy, but thrive in.
